  Very Different Experience From the 5 Star Reviews. Maybe I had a one-off experience. I owned a home that I rented out for part of my ownership, and lived in it the other part. I went to Menden because I initially did the return in Turbo Tax, but given it's more complex I then figured it would be better to have an experienced firm do it. Menden came back and said I owe over $9000 for Federal, when Turbo Tax said I was getting a small refund. I questioned the logic used, and found out they barely researched my case. I did the research myself on the IRS website and forwarded the appropriate method to them. They then came back and said 'oh yea, we see what you are saying, we updated it and now you get a $800 return'. If I would have blindly listened I would have been out over $9000. I decided to not use them and will just file myself, as after doing all the research I feel I can better document and submit than they can. Again, might have been a one-off experience, but I was extremely dissapointed in their lack of knowledge and effort spent.

  I've been going to Menden Accounting for 3 years to do my taxes. I do not trust Turbo Tax and I don't know enough about taxes to try and do them myself. I chose Menden because of all the positive reviews. Well, recently I got a letter in the mail from the IRS saying my 2015 taxes were inaccurate. That based on their information, I owe the IRS $1,000. I took the letter to Menden Accounting and they looked into it. It turns out the letter was correct. Menden Accounting messed up on my 2015 taxes and I did indeed owe the IRS $1,000. So they decided to look into my 2016 taxes and it turns out they made the same mistake. So I actually owe $2,000. Now I understand that taxes are confusing and human error occurs, but this is the whole reason why I pay a certified professional to do my taxes for me. $2,000 is a lot of money to most people and not everyone can just pull that money out of the air. So, let's do the math. 2 out of 3 years my taxes were wrong. That is 33.3% accuracy. 66.6% of the time, Menden Accounting screwed up my taxes. I have absolutely no incentive to go back to them for taxes anymore plus they do not have any sort of guarantee. By the way, the 2 times my taxes were messed up, they were done by 2 different people. So are they just copying and pasting the info from one year to the next? I am very disappointed. I didn't even get an apology. Beware, a tax professional with 33.3% accuracy will not be getting my business anymore.

  I interviewed Menden and explained what i was hoping to receive from his professional services. After not feeling i was getting it, i had another meeting with him. Then still nothing. I had one last meeting explaining what was not being done, and still nothing changed. I asked multiple times to get better services. And time after time nothing changed. I'd give them 0 stars if that was an option. IMO
